CLAY GYM ASSISTANT


We are looking for an assistant to help us with the clay gym sessions starting from the 1st of July.
This role is a fit for you if you are:
passionate about ceramics
experienced at working in a workshop
interested & eager to learn more

The role concerns assisting 4h a week during the clay gym (CG) shifts, meaning:
reclaiming clay
recycling & refilling glazes 
preparing tests
keeping track of materials to order
cleaning the atelier after the CG
archiving & organising tests
updating shifts
participating to the monthly meeting

THROWING COURSE


A course by Yuval Harel and Benedetta Pompili where you’ll learn about throwing techniques. From preparing the clay for the wheel, centering, shaping, trimming, adding handles.
At the end you’ll have the basic skills to continue and practice throwing on your own and several complete pieces to take home with you.
The materials (clay and glazes) in the studio are based on recycled raw materials only.
The fee includes:
5 sessions
Clay
Glazes
Firings
Up to 5 final pieces

The class is run in a small group of max. 4 participants to allow personal guidance and adapt to your level & interest (from complete beginner to wanting to deepen and brush up technique).

HANDBUILDING WORKSHOP


Saturday 3rd & 10th May 
10.00 - 12.30 H

Two week introduction to handbuilding and glazing ceramics led by Hannah Rose Whittle. 

The first class will cover making with various handbuilding techniques, including pinch pots, slab building and coil building. Come along with your own ideas and make functional or sculptural objects! 
The second class will cover the basics of glazing, you will finish with your very own glazed ceramic items for use in your home. 

Hannah Rose Whittle is an artist and researcher focusing on process led explorations into sustainable ceramics practices, highlighting material agency and knowledges.

BUILDING BIG — MULTI-PART THROWING


Tuesdays 6th & 13th of May 6 - 8 pm

Each participant has the freedom to explore this technique in their own way, whether it be through intricate measuring or wild explorations of height. By the end of the first day, all the components are thrown, ready to be merged together. The next day, we can start trimming and preparing the parts to be put together.

COIL BUILDING


Tuesday 3rd & 17th June 
18.30 - 21.00H

Two week course covering traditional making with coil building and glazing ceramics led by Hannah Rose Whittle. 

The first session will cover making with the ancient handbuilding technique of coiling, guiding you through making your own objects - bowl, cups, pot, bottle or vase. 
In the second session you will learn how to glaze your objects using traditional ash based glazes.
Please note that there is a week break between sessions to allow for drying and firing the pieces before glazing.
